Reading selections and questions for Sunday, May 9, 2010

1) Exodus 35:4-10
What kinds of offerings were being gathered? How did they decide what to give? What was the purpose of these offerings? Other than material gifts, what else was needed?
Exodus 35:20-29
How did the people respond to the need? Who gave what? Who didn’t participate? How was the community effected by the level and kinds of participation? What attitude did the participants have?

2) Exodus 35:30-6:1
Who was chosen as expert craftsmen? Why? What does “Spirit-filled” mean to you? What does “Spirit-filled” service look like? What does it look like when service isn’t “Spirit-filled?” Who else helped? Why was their expertise so important?

3) Exodus 39:32, 42-43
How did the final inspection go? What standard was used to judge it?
Exodus 40:1-11
The big day was finally arriving. Name some of the things on Moses’ to do list. Why was so much preparation needed? How do you prepare for worship?

4) Exodus 40:12-15
Why was it so important for Aaron and his sons to follow God’s directions about consecration? What does consecration mean? In what ways have you been consecrated for God’s kingdom?
Exodus 40:34-38
What was the function and purpose of the Tabernacle once it was completed? How did God guide them? How does God guide you? What role does worship play in that process?
