For Sunday, March 28, 2010

Reading selections and questions for Sunday, March 28, 2010

1) Exodus 12:50-51
What had just happened to the Israelites?
Exodus 13:1; 14-16
What were they commanded to celebrate? Why? Can you think of a New Testament connection with the emphasis on the first born son?

2) Exodus 13:17-18;21-22
Where did God lead them? This was not the most direct route. Why did He lead them this way? How did He lead them? When has God led you in a way you did not understand at first?

3) Exodus 14:1-4
How did God show His control over these events? What was His purpose?
Exodus 14:5-12
What was Pharaoh’s response to this situation? How did the Israelites respond? How well did this reaction match God’s prediction in Exodus 13:17?

4) Exodus 14:13-14
What were Moses’ instructions to the people? What were God’s instructions to Moses?
Exodus 14:15-31
Which part of this story is most amazing to you? How has God surprised you by the way He answered your prayer for help? How did God gain glory through Pharaoh?

Bonus:
Compare the Israelites emotions and action on each side of the Red Sea. Compare their attitudes toward God on each side of the Red Sea.
Could you do me a favor, please? If you read this online this week, could you either leave a message saying so, or email me that you did? Thanks.
