For Sunday, April 25, 2010

Reading selections and questions for Sunday, April 25, 2010

1) Exodus 25:1-9
What was to determine what offering each Israelite gave? How do the offerings you give reflect your worship of God? What kinds of supplies were needed for the new sanctuary? What is the role of design with preparing a place of worship? Why was it so important for them to follow God’s pattern exactly?

2) Exodus 25:10-22
Sketch a picture of what the Ark of the Covenant might have looked like. What was the purpose of the “mercy seat?” (Some translations call it other things, like “atonement cover.”) What does the concept of a “mercy seat” tell us about God?

3) Exodus 29:38-41
What offering was to be burnt on the altar everyday? With what frequency? Why so often? How did the burning of a lamb remind the Israelites of their past? How did it point them to the future?

4) Exodus 29:42-46
What was the overall purpose of all the worship instructions? What all would be consecrated? What does consecrated mean? How was it going to happen? What do these instructions teach us about the character of God?
